I don't believe that it is hard wired into someone's brain whether they are going to be gay/straight. I understand that most gays think that they were born with it, and I accept that as an honest excuse, but I believe that a person's sexuality is almost always swayed by early life experiences. The thing is, most gays (again, I hate saying it like that, because it sounds so derogatory ) don't realize, or can't recollect, the events that influenced their sexuality subconsciously. I'm going to vote 50/50 because "I was born with it is a popular answer", and I honestly believe my own theory, as well.
