Personally, i think Sephiroth's one of the heroes of ff7- Shinra tried to make a 'product' they could use to fight their dirty wars at will, and win for them, but Sephiroth broke free from that and went his own way. okay, his way was totally evil, but then he had such a tragic backstory that it's understandable, even if you don't agree with him. You have to feel sorry for him, as for a time he genuinely believed he was an Ancient...
Plus he's got some crazy alien lady speaking in his head, thanks to the Shinra, who keeps telling him to kill stuff.
I can't help but love him.
Which is bizzarre, because Aeris is my fave ff character of all time!
Just see it this way; Sephiroth didn't kill Aeris, Hojo did. If Hojo had actually been a decent guy, Sephiroth wouldn't have been the way he was, Ifalna and Gast would be together, Vincent would have some sort of life (:P) and Lucrecia would be happily married.
