Well, id rework the additional Storyline from online Mode into a single player offline campaign.
Basically, you complete Extra-Hard Mode, then you can select this additional story from the new game Menu. No need for Internet connection.
Like the additional "Dawn of Souls" story line for FFII
oS or "Reverse/Rebirth" storyline for KH:CoM.
