Lost Odessey Review *No Spoilers*
Well, I'm hoping that no one has posted any reviews about this game....
Moving on;One of the many things I loved about Lost Odessey is the battle system. Its nothing too special, but its simple and very old school. While you have a very simple battle system that will feel very familiar, the front/back row system is for me so far unseen. Your back row has DP, which is depleted as your front row takes damage. The total DP is your front row's total HP. If you have full (lvl 4) DP, then your back row's damage is only 1/4. Which means when they'd take 100 damage, they take 25. But as your front row is attacked, your back row's defence is eventually penetrated, and they take full damage..
Another aspect of Lost Odessy that caught my eye, though it isnt new in any way, is the Target Ring system. You can equip your characters with Target Rings, which add special effects to your normal attacks. For example, you might have a ring that adds Fire damage to your attack, or one that simply increases attack power. If you have one equipped, when you attack with that character, a ring appears around your target as you charge toward it. As your character runs, an outside ring converges toward the one around the target as you hold the Right Trigger, if you release when the rings converge, your added Target Ring effects will be added to your attack..
There are three ratings for accuracy..
Total miss-Bad.
Close-Good.
Perfect Timing-Perfect.
Bads add no extra effects, good adds a small amount of the effect, perfects greatly add the equipped effect to your attack..
Magic is the usual..
Magic Weaknesses;Fire-Water.
Wind-Earth.
Light-Dark.
Magics have different names now;.
Fire-Flare.
Water-Aqua.
Wind is still wind if my memory is correct..
Earth-Ground.
And of course, different levels for magic;.
Flare-Flara-Flarus.
Aqua-Aquara-Aquarus.
Wind-Winda-Windus.
Ground-Grounda-Groundus.
Well, that's about where I stop. Hope I've made ya want the game now.Unfortunately, for 360 only.
