What do you think about it?

We know it's a huge deal here in the US.
Unfortunate enough, I am somewhat Shallow. I am scared and I do not like obese ppl. I am you're avarage size girl [7/8] in jeans. I weigh 125. But really, I don't get it how one could possibly be 500+ pounds. This kinds of things are somewhat controversy, because then there's the whole Anorexic thing going on. The Fashion industry tells you, you have to be thin to be beautiful. Idk.

I am some what like you
but sometimes its not there falt for being the way they are because its all about what your past is, I mean like if your parents are like that or your granma was like that
cause its all about the DNA you have !!

but we have a lot of those people hear in canada too

It's not all about DNA. It's partly their fault too.

I mean, look- they can't lay off the cheesecake.
there's like a million diseases coming from eating too much and they know that. It bugs me!

I mean there is like a hundred things that can kill you from smoking but I still do cause its a habit and I have been doing it since I was about 5
so it might be something as simple as a habit to them

I'd understand 14, b/c that was when I started.

eating as a habit? It's just an excuse to get fat.
all their doing is asking for lovehandles and cellulite and what not.

But you see, smoking is different.
If you look at commercials; at society, smoking is promoted as being cool.
right?
what made you start?
someone pressured you to or what?

Either way, it is not the same thing as being fat.
Obesity, is at itself considered a diseased.
and it's definately not promoted in commercials and stuff.
People in normal would try to avoid that, so I don't see how one could gladly accepted as a habit.

I starded b/c my dad beat me and my mom
so I starded smoking
and I was also raised in Germany wich is a ruff place and I hung out with people way older then me, so to fit in I starded smoking

well it is the same cause its the same for eating the comercials I mean
cause all of the food they put on like mcdonals etc ..
and so it is as a mader a fact the same cause eating is just a habbit
whether they eat when they are sad, depresed, or happy
its all the same

I smoke to calm my nerves
people might eat to calm thers

I'm not in U.S. but I heard bout that problem.....IMO they are fat because they are lazy and eat to much.

May I remind everyone how different people are... You never know what's the story behind the guy you pass at your store... And of course there are lots of big people that have have caused their size themselves by eating wrong or too much (and that's the cases you se on TV anyway..) But there are people that have it all in their DNA.. Many people are not to blame for their size even if they're huge or skinny as paper... So there's no reason for treating the random big guy you meet badly, cause you never know what's his background. He may even have a disease or something for all you kow, so let him be!

On the other hand, I know lots of people eat way too much and all wrong, and that's what we see on television.. and that's a problem, not because they're ugly or something, cause they're not! But because it ruins their health.
And I think it's a habit to them.
You eat when you're sad, you eat to celebrate something good.. or you eat simply out of boredom when you have nothing better to do.
It's just the same as when people bite their nails or pick their noses. It's just that this is much more damaging.

Lol, all of you have great points. My personal belief is that it's up to the person. There are rare cases where it's out of your control, but you either love food or you love yourself. Food is like all nasty addictions in life. Too much of something just leads to problems.

What about those young children?
Yesterday I saw like a 9-10 yr old boy already over weight.
I wonder how their parents could let the eat so much.
It's sad and it makes me wonder.

How do you know they got that big by eating too much?
Of course that can be the problem, but you don't know for sure if you don't know them do you?

I know a guy around 11 years old who's overweight. Off course he doesn't eat all correct. I know he eats lots of candy during weekends and such, but I also know that most of it, in his case, is his DNA. Just like his parents, his body consumes food slowly and that causes fat to be stored in his body. Even though he's so young.
