I changed the names of characters when I started playing years ago, but I stopped that, as it messes up the game for me. Only in Final Fantasy 1 like games I rename them, but with games like Final Fantasy VII I just stick to the original.

The only time that i ever changed somebody's name in any ff game was...squall's, i changed it to vincent cuz i was obsessed with vincent valentine at the time, lol

But now I dont think out names dont go with the characters so i leave it as there default name better i think

i onlychanged the names once in FFVII the first time i played, i named them from the characters from The Legend of Dragoon cause i love that game.....

I just can't bring myself to change the names! I managed to once, and called Red XIII Nanaki, because i thought it was rude to call him Red XIII (:P) but then i reset the game...
Oh yeah, and after I got the namingway card in FF9, I constantly renamed my characters after ff7 ones, but I kept feeling guilty and changing them back...
I probably have some major complex...:P
