[Shattered Redemption]

Well this is just a fanfic I thought of a few days ago, and figured that I'd go with the idea because my friends and I really liked it. I hope you guys enjoy it. Comment after chapters are posted, and we;ll see how it goes. I'd love both negative, and positive critiquing, but ya know, don't tear me down, only my work if you don't like it......

Chapter 1: Teal Winds and Night

[SIZE=3]There was a lot of noise. All of the rumbling and crashing was enough to wake the dead, but Miyotiko was such a heavy sleeper, she didn’t wake up, and she didn’t budge from her slumber. However this had nothing to do with her randomly waking up during her bouts of sleep, and at the same time of another crash, her eyes popped open, causing her to peer into the smoke that was filling her room. She gasped as it entered her mouth and she choked a little. “Oh man, I have got to stop having these waking dreams. I need to go to bed earlier, so that this doesn’t happen all the time.” Of course, it was no dream at all.

A blood covered hand grabbed hold of the side of her bedside, and she noticed it and shrieked. The smoke wasn’t as bad as it was before, and she could feel a lot of air coming in through the hole on the side of her wall, which also made her realize that the hand was not moving, but she heard a voice. “Miss Mido, we need to get out of here right now.” She looked over the edge of her canopy bed, and cried out aloud…….again.

It was Henry, and he looked badly wounded. Panic took over Miytiko’s mind. Something had gone terribly wrong, and she was confused at what was going on, but before she could sort everything out in her head, Henry slowly dragged himself up and leaned on the side of the bed. He was breathing heavily, but it looked like his wound was closing up, or at least being held closed. Even so, blood still trickled down the corners of his most, and Miyotiko felt bad for her long time friend, but also man-servant.

“Miss Mido, they have come, the battle is already lost.” He paused as a fight of coughing stopped his comments to Miyotiko, and he doubled over in pain. She could see the blood covering his thin tunic. “I -I mean, we have lost.”

Just hearing the word ‘lost’ made Miyotiko’s face twitch, she jumped down from her bed, and in a matter of seconds had pulled on her clothes, and slipped on a chest plate to in case things got bad, well really bad, because it was obvious that they were already terrible. She then grabbed a sword off the wall, and slipped in into the scabbard on her side. “Okay, I knew that some day this would happen . I’ll fight even if I die doing so.” She rolled her eyes. It was completely cliché to even say such a thing, because really, she was not at all prepared to give her life. She was only 16 for crying out loud!!!!! Miyotiko turned, not wanting to see Henry injured, and also so that he couldn’t read her expression and see how scared she was because of all of this.

Exciting her chamber, and dashing down the long hallway, she saw flames and glass everywhere. The situation was just NOT registering. She’d been trained for things like this, and though supposedly prepared, this was just not something she wanted to deal with. Not only that, but the shock was almost shaking her to the point where she wanted to break down. Henry was pressed closely to her body as Miyotiko and Henry ended up at the small strip of marble that was a bridge connecting the two parts of the castle towers. There was just one problem. Miyotiko stopped and looked over the edge of the bridge.

“Oh no. I can’t believe this. This is bad. Why are things getting worse and worse?? Looking down below over the side the scene was nothing more than a chaotically proportioned mess. There was so much fighting going on, she couldn’t even tell who was on what side. The noise was almost deafening. Henry looked over at Miyotiko and grabbed her arm. The bridge was pretty much destroyed, and so the only way down was to go down, and that was far………..

He made a small incantation, the winds around them picking up. "We have to jump don't we??" Miyotiko shivered and took a deep breath.

"Yeah it looks that way. Are you ready for this Miss??" She didn't bother answering with words. A tug on Henry's hand was all that she needed to do, to say yes. The spell made it so that their fall down to the ground was more of a glide, than an actual free fall, but Miyotiko's nerves made it so that she still felt as if falling to her death was coming up, and she clung to Henry's arm like part of his shadow.

Suddenly the spell cut off, most likely because Henry had been injured and had used up quite a bit of energy not only trying to heal himself, but also in casting the spell to float the two of them down as well. Luckily they were only a few feet up when this happened, and Henry landed on the ground with a soft thud, and Miyotiko did shortly after he did. "Damn this is more than a little disturbing. Just my luck too. Eww." Henry figured that this was due to the fact that Miytiko had landed on a corpse.

The soldier was certainly dead. Nobody could have lived after losing a leg, and losing blood that way, and the hole in his chest didn't even look like it had come from a sword. "Miss please pay attention. This is no time to be gawking at the dead." There was a clanging sound as he said this.

"Huh??" Miyotiko snapped out of her little trance, and found that during the little session, soldiers had attacked and Henry was facing off with them.. She watched Henry jump up and twist his body around, and in quick succession used the force frpm the spin to kick soldiers away with crippling force, the last kick smashing Henry's foot directly into a soldier's face.

Randomly the term 'pwn kicks' came to mind. but was cut off by Henry stepping back and pointing. "Oh no, we aren't gonna make it. It's her. She, damn it, RUN MIYOTIKO!!!!"

"Huh?? Why?? I don't get it." She started as Henry pulled Miyotiko behind him.

"It's her.........it's Jazarae-na'shone. We are really gonna have trouble getting past her."

[SIZE=3] Miyotiko was almost struck dumb in the spot she was in. She peered over Henry’s shoulders and tried to think o something logical to say, or do, but nothing was coming to her. The level of power she could feel coming from the woman before them was overwhelming. She had never felt such power in her life. Even her father hand’t ever shown this level of magick. She as actually shaking, and Henry inched back, his mind also turning in circles about what they were supposed to do now that the plan to escape had seemingly failed before it really started. He had to show Miyotiko that regardless of what was in the way, he would uphold his job as her guardian, even though he really didn’t want to when it came down to possibly losing his life to a person with might like the “doomstress”. Miyotiko started laughing in an attempt to quell the ear that was grabbing hold o her, like a hand closing of her will to live.

“So you are the doomstress huh?? The witch or sorceress that supposedly has the powers of Eden and the like. I can’t believe this.” Her face showed no emotion, but the glare from the woman was just as cold, and before long, Miyotiko had to look away. As if she didn’t even see the two, the doomstress floated away into the night, her hands raised and runes on her ace glowing. Miyotiko was just dumbfounded. Why was the doomstress ignoring them?? Was it possible that she didn’t realize that Miyotiko was the princess?? There was no time to worry about such a thing. No longer needing to worry about death, Henry relaxed, and took of towards the front courtyard.

Though called the castle, there was a lot of room to work with. The castle itself was almost the size of a city, and inside the castle, which was a living fortitude of magick, and other energies thousands of inhabitants lived, guarding the secrets of the lost world Felunia. This was just a term used by the people who lived in the castle though. The world was not actually lost, but rather a pact had been made long ago, that separated the castle and it’s people from Felunia and thus housed a lot of knowledge that had been lost to the rest of the world. There was no doubt in Miyotiko’s mind that for the longest time those whom knew of the existence of this place had been doing all they could to get in, but also she had no idea why, or the real meaning of what was kept secret all the time.

She looked up, seeing that in her daze, they had been moving the entire time, no doubt her being asked questions by Henry, because they had come to a halt, and he was down on one knee, looking at her. “Miss, are you okay?? You have just been running with a blank expression on your……..” he dropped down on both knees, blood running down the sides of his mouth as he grabbed his sides. “Ugh, I don’t think that I’m gonna make it.” Moe blood spilled from his mouth, and now the reopened wound along with it.

“No Henry, I-I-I can’t do this alone!!! I need you her with me. Please don’t leave me.” Already Henry was gasping for breath, and moving away towards a small crevice in the ground. At least the crevice looked small from the outside. “Henry, what are you doing?? Don’t, please!!!!!!!! NOO!!!!!!!!!!” She watched as Henry voiced the word, ‘sorry’ to her, and threw himself into the crack in the ground. She almost knew certain that he was dead. She didn’t even hear his body hit the body, which made her eel even worse.

All alone was something that Miyotiko had never been, and at the edge of the castle grounds, she wasn’t sure what to do with herself, or how to get away, or even go about getting away. She voiced these concerns to thin air…….“Damn it!!! How do I get out o here?? I really don’t even know where here is. On top of that, what am I suppose to do without Henry?? I……I loved him. Damn it.” Her voice was unanswered, or a few minutes that is.

A snicker came from above her, and she looked up more than a little confused, but still freaked out enough that it didn’t show. The laugh got somewhat louder, and she peered into the sky, turning so that she could get a better look. She thought she saw something like a ribbon in the air, but that was about it.

“Hehehe. I’ll tell you what you can do. All you can do now is die. I am surprised that the Scion of Exes would succumb to such pathetic wounds so early. I guess that means that I don’t have to worry about fighting him off, and can kill you with no problem.” Miyotiko saw that same ribbon from before, and it spun around before a man appeared inside of it. A man that was very skinny, and was wearing a tight fitting suit that was bright yellow. His hair was long and ornage, and he had a tail. Of course to top it all of was that ribbon.

She was now both annoyed and confused, and angry all at the same time, but her senses were telling her to stay calm, because things were about to get much more intense. The man pointed at her and laughed again, and as he did so, Miyotiko threw up her hands in front of her face, as a shroud of fire snuffed out some magickal attack from the man’s whip. “Ooh, I see you are better than I thought. And here I was thinking you would die with one hit. I guess I’ll just have to get more serious then huh??” Miyotiko looked tired, and angry, she both of these she was, but she had only fought with magick in training battles.

“Fine then. Once I take you out, I’ll figure out how to get out of here, and from there, I I’ll do what I have to. This is or you Henry.”

The man cocked his head to one side. “Yornj doesn’t like looking at living princesses, or talking ones either so just die *****.” He hurled his whip towards her, and Miyotiko just looked at it, because it seemed to be living. The ribbon twisted, and turned, and even crawled along the ground, and Miyotiko saw no reason to attack, or defend. That is until the ribbon curled back, and a bolt of lightning snaked down from the sky above………

“What?? Is he using that to manipulate the magick around here??” She questioned herself as reflexes from a lot of training kicked in. She jumped up and backwards, using the impact from the blast near her to go higher, and move away from the next three bolts of lightning that all struck the same spot she moved away from. The last bolt was bigger, and tore apart the grassy area in front of her, but this was all in Yornj’s favor.

Something was pulling her forward, and as the dirt cloud settled, and she opened her eyes, Miyotiko screamed in confusion, wondering how Yornj’s whip had wrapped around her leg, or even gotten neat her that fast. She could see his thin blade pointed outwards, and her stomach was headed right or it…………“Great. So his is how I am going to die. Where are the devoid faeries when i need them??” Miyotiko closed her eyes................[/SIZE]
